Homelessness and Poverty

If you want to talk about crime... it is a crime that roughly one third of homeless American citizens are US veterans. These are the forgotten citizens of the United States, some who are sadly referred to as "vermin" by some candidates for public office.

DYING AMERICA

Is America dying a slow death?

It is a rarity to hear any public official or candidate for public office, for that matter, refer to our nation's homeless population except as an after thought to be "dealt with".

According to a report a few years back, nearly half of all Americans have problems meeting just their most basic needs. NEARLY HALF!

They're not just voters! They're human beings but more importantly, they're Americans!

This is the most powerful and arguably wealthiest nation on the planet so its particularly troublesome that this problem not just exists, but is growing worse year after year and the powers that be, those who could do something about the problem, still don't get it and refuse to act!

The late Senator Tom Coburn R-OK once said, "we have fixable problems in our country but we have a political class that doesn't want to address them."

It is not acceptable that those who have the ability and the capacity to fix the problems do not have the wherewithal to fix those problems. Public service is not about occupying a seat. It is about doing the job... pure and simple!

That's why I'm running for Congress. Changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America doesn't put food on American's plates. It doesn't make healthcare any more affordable. Attacking the homeless, hopeless and helpless in our nation doesn't begin to address the issues we face. We won't fix any problems until we actually fix the problems. It's just that simple!
